Let the Countdown Begin

I started this two years ago when; I was diagnosed with my brain cancer. I love this idea and I’m making it a tradition for myself & I’d like to share it with you all. So come follow along with me on the 25 Days Countdown of Cookies + Treats.

Christmas Trees & Holiday Things

A little poem:

"Freshly cut Christmas trees smelling of stars and snow and pine resin, inhale deeply and fill your soul with wintry night."

- John Geddes

O' Christmas Tree, O' Christmas tree!!

There's no experience quite like cutting your own live Christmas tree out at a farm. Being surrounded by hundreds of Christmas trees, smelling the pine in the air, seeing other families pick & cut their own trees down to take home, getting fresh pine on my hands, & loading the tree up back in the truck was more fun than I could have imagined. It was my first time experiencing help cutting a Christmas tree down, but it was also my first time doing this with my significant other & his family. The smell of fresh pine needles, spruce, & Christmas tree are such a magical feeling & the wonderful scents of the holiday season. Now I can check cutting a Christmas tree off my bucket list of things. Not only was it a memorable experience; it was a special feeling being able to be apart of this tradition with my love & his family. Holidays are sometimes normally hard without your loved one's, but being included made it easier & made me feel grateful for all the memories I shared with my loved one's & creating some new memories with new loved one's in the process which holds a special place in my heart. As a kid growing up my grandparents, siblings & I would go buy a fresh Christmas tree to bring home & decorate with homemade ornaments & colorful glass ornaments. When we got older my grandparents felt like it would be easier & more cost sufficient to have a fake Christmas tree to put up every December, so getting a fresh Christmas tree & decorating it together while listening to Christmas music reminded me of my childhood. It was my favorite memory & something I'll forever cherish especially since my grandpa is no longer with us anymore. Decorating the Christmas with my boyfriend & his family was not only fun; but I'm thankful for being apart of it since I'm not home for the holidays with my own family. Now that I experienced cutting a Christmas tree down I am looking forward to do it again next year & for many years to come & to be able to share this experience with my own children some day.
